How Much Room Does a FlightScope Mevo+ Need Indoors?

For indoor full swings, FlightScope currently specifies 7 to 9 feet from the Mevo+ to the tee and recommends 13 feet of ball flight in front of the tee. That is a long room once you add the impact screen’s rear clearance and enough space for the golfer to swing. FlightScope also supports shorter limited-flight setups for specific modes, but those shorter numbers should not be used as a generic full-swing room requirement.

The Mevo+ needs tracking space on both sides of the ball

Mevo+ is a rear-mounted radar launch monitor. It sits behind the golfer and watches the ball travel away from it, so both the sensor-to-tee distance and the ball-flight distance are part of the measurement system.

This is why the small physical size of the unit can be misleading. The launch monitor fits in a bag; the radar layout does not.

Allow 7 to 9 feet behind the tee

FlightScope lists 7 to 9 feet from the sensor to the tee for indoor full-swing use. FlightScope's placement answer for limited flight puts Mevo+ 8 feet behind the tee, but the full range matters when you are fitting the system around the rest of the room.

Keep that radar lane clear. Chairs, storage, or other objects placed between the Mevo+ and the hitting area can turn “unused” floor into a tracking problem.

Full-swing indoor use is built around 13 feet of ball flight

FlightScope recommends 13 feet of ball flight for indoor full swings. Its documentation also gives shorter distances for limited-flight chipping and other modes, and the product page's setup tab lists limited flight as 8 feet sensor to tee with 8 to 13 feet of ball flight.

Those are different use cases. If you are building a permanent simulator for full clubs, plan around the full-swing configuration you expect to use instead of the shortest distance mentioned anywhere in the support material.

Indoor spin has an additional requirement

FlightScope's indoor full-swing line itself adds "metallic dots or Titleist RCT balls required for accurate spin measurements," and the Mevo+ box includes 100 metallic stickers.

Ball type, alignment, hitting surface, and flight distance all affect the setup you are trying to reproduce.

Add the screen gap and the golfer before calling the room “big enough”

The radar distances do not include the space an impact screen needs behind it, and they do not tell you how much room your driver swing needs behind or beside the tee.

Tape the screen face, tee, Mevo+, and golfer positions on the floor. If the room only works by ignoring the screen gap or standing uncomfortably close to a wall, the radar numbers have not really fit.

A shorter room may favor another tracking technology

If you cannot provide both the rear radar lane and the required ball flight, moving the Mevo+ closer is not the right fix. A camera unit beside the ball or an overhead launch monitor can use the same room differently.
