About this publication
The Sim Room is an independent, one-person publication about planning a home golf simulator room. It is not a retailer, not an installer, not a design service, and is not owned by or affiliated with any manufacturer.
It exists because the question that decides a simulator build is not which launch monitor is most accurate — it is whether a full swing physically fits in the room you have. Almost everything written about this category answers the first question and skips the second.

As an individual publisher I do not list a postal address or telephone number. The contact form reaches me directly, and manufacturers, retailers, affiliate networks and press are welcome to use it.
What this site is not
Nothing here is an architectural, structural or engineering service. The room size calculator does not produce a construction drawing, is not suitable for a building permit application, and does not certify that any structure complies with any code. Where a build touches a garage door track, a floor joist, or a basement floor level, that is the domain of a structural engineer or a licensed contractor, and this site says so at the point where it comes up.
Nothing here is financial advice. Where the cost guide mentions borrowing to fund a build, that is description, not recommendation, and I am not a regulated adviser in any jurisdiction.
How this site makes money
Through referral fees, once affiliate programs approve this site. Where a link earns us a referral fee, we say so on the same page. No link on this site currently earns us a fee. Where one does in future, the fee is paid by the retailer and is never added to what you pay.
When a link earns us a fee it is marked in three places, deliberately redundantly: a bar at
the top of every page, a label on the product block, and here. Every paid link will carry
rel="sponsored nofollow". No link on this site currently carries the label
or that attribute.
The specific conflict of interest, stated plainly
A referral fee would pay us more when you buy an expensive package than a cheap one, and nothing at all when the honest answer is "your ceiling will not take a full swing, build a short-game room instead." That is a real bias and you should price it in. The countermeasures chosen here are to publish a source for every dimension so you can check them, and to build the room size calculator so that it returns a refusal when a refusal is correct — including telling you not to buy the expensive package. You are entitled to be skeptical about whether that is enough.
How revenue relates to what gets recommended
Neither the existence nor the size of a commission changes what the room size calculator returns. It works from your ceiling height, width and depth against published manufacturer and retailer specifications — nothing else. A camera-based unit is recommended over a radar unit when your depth cannot hold a radar unit, regardless of which one pays better.
Accuracy, and asking for a correction
Every dimension threshold on this site comes from a published manufacturer or retailer specification, and the sources are linked on the page where the figure is used. Where published sources disagree, the disagreement is shown rather than resolved. Where a figure could not be verified, the site says so instead of estimating.
Prices are the listed prices found on the date shown in the footer, and several were promotional. Retailers change pricing and specification without notice. Confirm on the retailer's own page before buying.
If a number here is wrong, tell me through the form below and it will be corrected, with a note that it was corrected. Manufacturers requesting a correction are welcome to use the same route.
Images and diagrams
There are no photographs on this site, and no AI-generated pictures of rooms. The plan view the room size calculator produces is inline SVG drawn in your browser from the measurements you type in. It is schematic, not to tolerance, and is not a construction drawing.
Privacy
The room size calculator runs entirely in your browser. The ceiling height, width, depth and the rest of what you enter are worked out on your own device and are not sent to us. There is no account, no email capture, and no server-side processing of anything you type into it. The plan drawing is generated locally too — no image service is contacted.
Share links are the one thing that carries your measurements. If you use the share link the calculator offers, the measurements travel in the part of the address after the # sign. That part is not sent as part of the request for the page, so it does not reach our host's logs, but it does sit in your own browser history, and anyone you send the link to can read the measurements in it. The Clear room data button on the calculator empties the form and takes the measurements back out of the address.
Save on this device is optional, and it stays on your device. If you press that button, the calculator writes your room measurements, the golfer settings, the verdict, the name you gave the room, the dataset version they were checked against and which of that room's build checklist boxes you have ticked into your browser's local storage. Up to five rooms can be held that way, and the name is the only free text in them: the checklist is a fixed list of boxes, not something you type into. Nothing is uploaded: that storage is read only by this site, in this browser, on this device, and we cannot see it. It is what lets the home page and the calculator offer a Continue button, and tell you when a threshold in the dataset changed after you saved a room. Forget this room on the calculator deletes the room you are on; clearing your browser's site data removes all of them. There is no account behind it.
The contact form is the one exception. If you use it, the name, email address and message you enter are transmitted to Formspree, a third-party form processor, which forwards them to the editor by email. That data is used solely to answer your inquiry and is deleted once the exchange is complete. If you would rather not use a third-party processor, do not use the form.
Hosting. This site is served as static files by Cloudflare, which processes request data including IP addresses to deliver the page and protect the service.
Analytics. The pages themselves contain no analytics or tracking code, and they load no webfonts and no external images — every page is written as a single self-contained file. Our host, Cloudflare, adds its own Web Analytics beacon to pages as it serves them, which counts page loads and page-performance timings without setting cookies and without identifying you. Nothing you type into the calculator is sent to it. If that changes, this paragraph changes with it.
Affiliate cookies. This site currently participates in no affiliate program, and no link here sets an advertising or attribution cookie. If that changes, a paid link may cause the retailer's network to set a cookie to attribute a later purchase; their policies govern that, and no personally identifying information would be passed back to this site. This paragraph changes when that happens.
Requests. Readers in the EU, UK, California or anywhere else who want to know what is held about them, or want it deleted, can ask through the form below. In practice there is very little to hold: unless you have written to me, nothing about you exists here.
