How Do You Hide and Secure Cables in a Golf Simulator Room?

Keep cables out of the stance area, swing path, and places where a golf ball can hit them. The cleanest permanent rooms put power and network connections near the equipment, then use wall or ceiling raceways, conduit, or properly rated in-wall cabling for the longer runs. If a cord has to cross the floor, protect it with a low-profile floor cover and keep it away from the mat.

Start With the Equipment Map

Before buying cable, mark the projector, computer, launch monitor, TV or monitor, speakers, router, lights, and charging points on the room plan. The cable routes become obvious once the equipment has a real location.

Doing this in reverse is how simulator rooms end up with three extension cords stretched across the same doorway.

Keep the Area Around the Mat Boring

The floor near the golfer should have as little going on as possible. Loose USB cables, charging cords, HDMI leads, and extension cords are trip hazards and easy ways to yank expensive equipment off a shelf.

If a floor-mounted launch monitor needs power, bring the cable in from the safest side and secure the last section so it cannot wander under a shoe.

Use the Walls and Ceiling for Long Signal Runs

Projector HDMI and Ethernet cables are natural candidates for wall or ceiling routing. Surface raceway is enough in many rooms and has one advantage over hiding everything permanently: you can open it later when the cable needs to be replaced.

If you run cable inside a wall or ceiling, use cable rated for that installation and follow local electrical rules. Ordinary extension cords should not be buried inside a wall.

Long HDMI Runs Deserve More Thought Than Short Ones

A six-foot HDMI cable from a PC to a monitor is easy. A long run to a ceiling projector can behave very differently at 4K or higher refresh rates. A marginal cable may work one day, then produce black screens, dropouts, or reduced resolution.

Choose the cable for the actual distance and signal you intend to send. In a finished room, an accessible conduit can be worth more than saving a few dollars on the cable itself.

Make Future Repairs Easy

Label both ends of HDMI, Ethernet, USB, and power-adapter leads before you bundle them. Leave enough access that the computer, projector, or launch monitor can be replaced without opening finished walls.

A simulator room should look clean without being sealed shut.
