About this publication

The Quiet Heat is an independent, one-person publication about planning a home sauna and cold plunge. It is not a company, not a retailer, not an installer, and is not owned by or affiliated with any manufacturer.

It exists because a sauna calculator will give you a kilowatt figure and, in the ten checked for the methodology below, not one asked whether your electrical service can carry it — and that second question is the one that decides what you can actually buy.

As an individual publisher I do not list a postal address or telephone number. The contact form reaches me directly, and manufacturers, affiliate networks and press are welcome to use it. I run more than one publication; the same editor and the same contact route serve all of them, which is why the name above is not specific to saunas.

How this site makes money

Today it does not. This site currently earns no affiliate commissions. Every outbound product link is a direct retailer link, is labeled “Unpaid retailer link” and carries rel="nofollow" only. Nothing on this site carries rel="sponsored", because nothing on it is paid.

The intention is to earn through affiliate links. If a program is approved, the affected links will be relabeled “Affiliate link”, will carry rel="sponsored nofollow", and a plain-language commission disclosure will appear next to them and in the bar at the top of every page. The program will be named in the table below on the same day. Any commission would be paid by the retailer and would never be added to what you pay. Almost Heaven runs a customer referral program rather than an affiliate program, so their products would stay unpaid either way.

The conflict of interest this site is designed around If affiliate programs are approved, commission rates may differ by retailer and by product. This site would then be paid more when you buy an expensive cabin than a cheap one, and paid nothing at all when the honest answer is "your panel cannot take this, fix the service first." That will not change the planner logic or the ranking criteria. The countermeasures chosen in advance are to publish a source for every number so you can check them, and to build the planner so that it returns a refusal when a refusal is correct — including recommending a $1,800 cabinet over a $7,000 one when that is what the arithmetic says. You are entitled to be skeptical about whether that is enough.

How revenue relates to what gets recommended

Neither the existence nor the size of a commission changes which product the planner returns. The planner filters on published external dimensions and on whether the whole-house load calculation still lands inside your service — nothing else. If programs are approved, a product that pays nothing will still be shown when it is the better answer, and a product that pays well will still be withheld when it does not fit.

Programs this site participates in

This site is new and has not yet been accepted into any affiliate program. At the time of writing, no link on this site earns anything. Outbound product links go directly to the retailer's own page. As programs are approved they will be named here individually, and the labels on the affected links will change from "Unpaid retailer link" to "Affiliate link" at the same time.

Networks check this page against their own records, so it lists what is true today rather than what has been applied for.

What this site will not claim

This is a planning site, not a wellness site, and the line matters enough to state.

The Quiet Heat does not claim that sauna use or cold water immersion detoxifies the body, flushes toxins, boosts immunity, kills viruses, burns a specific number of calories, lowers blood pressure, reduces cardiovascular risk, raises testosterone, speeds muscle recovery, or treats or prevents any medical condition. None of it can be substantiated here, and the FTC has issued warning letters to companies in this exact category for making those claims. In the UK, CAP Code rules 12.1 and 12.2 cover the same ground.

Heat exposure and cold water immersion both carry real risks, including cardiac risk and, with cold immersion, the cold shock response. Nothing here about kilowatts and joist spans has any bearing on whether either is safe for you. That is a question for a doctor.

What this site will not claim about engineering, either

Electrical figures on this site are for planning conversations. Circuit design is the licensed electrician's job, governed by the edition of the NEC or BS 7671 your jurisdiction has adopted, its local amendments, and the listing of the specific appliance. Structural questions belong to a structural engineer. Nothing here is a construction document and nothing here should be submitted for permit.

Where published sources contradict one another — and on this topic they do, including manufacturers contradicting themselves — this site shows the contradiction rather than picking a winner. Where a figure could not be verified from a primary source, I say so and leave the gap open rather than filling it with something plausible.

Images and diagrams

There are no photographs on this site, and no AI-generated pictures of rooms either. A generated image of a sauna that does not exist adds nothing to a page whose whole argument is that the numbers should be checkable.

Every diagram is inline SVG drawn programmatically — in the planner's case, from the dimensions you type in. They are schematic, not to tolerance, and are not construction drawings.

How the figures here are checked

The order of preference is fixed and does not change to make a page tidier. A manufacturer's own manual or listing for the exact model, at the exact voltage, beats everything else. Code text as adopted where the reader lives comes next. A retailer listing is used when it is the only published figure, and it is labeled as the retailer's. A single trade or community source is used only when nothing better exists, and the page says on its face that it is the weakest thing on it. Anything worked out here rather than published by someone else is called an editorial calculation and shown with its arithmetic.

Where two primary documents disagree, both are printed. Nothing is averaged into a third figure that no one publishes, and no explanation is offered for why a manufacturer's number differs from a retailer's unless one of them has actually said why. Where a figure could not be found at all, the page says so and leaves the gap open. Every article carries a How this page was researched block with its source classes, its re-read dates and what changed.

Drafting, table formatting and difference-checking are done with AI assistance. Numbers are not. Every figure on this site was taken back to the primary URL by hand before publication, and a plausible-sounding reason produced by a model is never published as if it came from a source.

The sauna calculators this site was measured against

The home page says that the calculators available online stop before the question that decides the purchase. That is a claim about a set of tools on a date, so here is the set and the date. Each one was opened and run on 2026-09-06. The three checkpoints are whether the tool returns a heater kilowatt figure, whether it returns an electrical circuit, and whether it asks anything at all about the electrical service already in the house.

Nine of the ten produced readable output. All nine returned a heater size. One returned a circuit. None of them asked a single question about the house — not the service rating, not the main breaker, not what else is already on the panel. That is the gap this site's planner was built to cover, and it is a statement about these ten tools on this date, not about every calculator in existence (checked 2026-09-06).

Accuracy, and asking for a correction

Prices are the listed prices found on the date shown in the footer of every page, and several were promotional at the time. Retailers change pricing and specification without notice, including changing which heater ships with a named cabin. Confirm on the retailer's own page before buying.

If a number here is wrong, tell me through the form below and it will be corrected, with a note that it was corrected. Manufacturers requesting a correction are welcome to use the same route.

Privacy

The planner runs entirely in your browser. The dimensions, appliance list and service rating you enter are never transmitted anywhere, and there is no account, no email capture, and no server-side processing of anything you type into it.

Nothing is stored unless you ask for it. By default your entries are gone when you close the tab. Under the result there is a Save this plan on this device button; pressing it writes those entries, a one-line summary of the result and the date into this browser's own local storage, on this device only. It is not uploaded, not shared, not readable by any other site, and it is not visible to the editor of this site. One plan is kept and saving again replaces it. Forget this plan, on the planner or on the home page, deletes it, and so does clearing this browser's site data. If you never press Save, nothing is written at all.

The contact form is the one exception. If you use it, the name, email address and message you enter are transmitted to Formspree, a third-party form processor, which forwards them to the editor by email. That data is used solely to answer your inquiry and is deleted once the exchange is complete. If you would rather not use a third-party processor, do not use the form.

Hosting. This site is served as static files by Cloudflare, which processes request data including IP addresses to deliver the page and protect the service.

Analytics. No analytics or tracking scripts are installed. The site loads no third-party JavaScript, no webfonts, and no external images — every page is a single self-contained file. If that changes, this paragraph changes with it.

Affiliate cookies. Outbound affiliate links are tracked by the retailer and the affiliate network, not by this site. Clicking one may cause that network to set a cookie to attribute a later purchase. Their policies govern that. No personally identifying information is passed back to this site in that process.

Requests. Readers in the EU, UK, California or anywhere else who want to know what is held about them, or want it deleted, can ask through the form below. In practice there is very little to hold: unless you have written to me, nothing about you exists here.
